Brewprint is a coffee brewing journal made by an independent developer. It is designed so that your data stays yours.
The short version
- Brewprint has no accounts and no tracking.
- Everything you record lives on your device.
- If you purchase Brewprint Pro and enable iCloud sync, your data is stored in your private iCloud, which only you can access. We have no servers and cannot see your data.
- The only data that ever leaves your device is optional, anonymous grind results you explicitly choose to share with the community — never anything that identifies you.
Data you create
Coffees, bags, brews, recipes, equipment, photos and notes you add are stored locally on your device in the app’s private storage. We do not collect, transmit, receive or sell any of it.
iCloud sync (Brewprint Pro)
If you enable iCloud sync, your data is synced through Apple’s CloudKit to your personal, private iCloud account so it appears on your other devices. This data is encrypted in transit and accessible only with your Apple Account. Apple’s handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. Disabling iCloud sync stops syncing; data already in your iCloud can be removed by deleting the app’s iCloud data in iOS Settings.
Community grind data (optional, off by default)
Brewprint includes a Grind Guide that can show grind starting points other brewers have found for the same equipment. If — and only if — you turn on “Share my grind results” (Settings → Community data), each good brew you log contributes one anonymous record to a shared database so it can help others.
A shared record contains only the grinder model, brew method, roast level, grind setting and a few related brewing parameters (such as ratio and bean age). It never includes your name, account, identity, location, bean names, notes, or photos — there is no way to tie a shared record back to you. The data is stored in Apple’s CloudKit public database (Apple-hosted; we run no servers of our own).
Sharing is off by default. You can turn it off at any time, and “Stop sharing & delete my contributions” (Settings → Community data) removes the records this device has contributed. Viewing community suggestions does not require sharing.
Camera and photos
Brewprint asks for camera access only when you choose to photograph a brew, and photo library access is handled by the system picker (the app never sees your library, only the photo you pick). Photos are stored with your brew data and go nowhere else.
Bluetooth
With Brewprint Pro you can connect a Bluetooth coffee scale. Bluetooth is used solely to read weight, flow and timer data from your scale while you use the app. Nothing is transmitted to us.
Purchases
Brewprint Pro is a one-time purchase processed entirely by Apple. We receive no payment details. See Apple’s privacy policy for how Apple processes purchases.
Analytics and third parties
Brewprint contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising, and no third-party services. If you opt in to share crash data with developers in iOS settings, Apple provides us anonymized crash reports.
Data export and deletion
You can export all your data as a JSON file (Settings → Export data) and delete everything by deleting the app (plus the app’s iCloud data in iOS Settings if you used sync).
Children
Brewprint does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date.
